I couldn’t have been more excited to dive into this 5 part novella. The Original Sinners series is one of my top three favorite series, so anytime I can get more of my favorite characters I have to jump at the chance.

The Last Good Knight: An Original Sinners novella told in five parts
Part I: Scars and Stripes
It’s lust at first sight when Mistress Nora encounters a sexy newcomer to The 8th Circle. She’s happy for the distraction, since she left her lover, Søren, but her session with Lance is cut short when her boss, Kingsley Edge, reveals they’re all in danger….
“I’m Mistress Nora. Nice to beat you.”
This series of novellas takes place three years before The Siren. Nora is in all her witty, sexy glory as a dominatrix. It all beings with her meeting a new guy at the 8th Circle. Lance is a former Navy SEAL and submissive looking for a Dom. I am always a sucker for the banter and dialogue in Tiffany Reisz books and it was no exception here. Within the first few pages of Nora and Lance meeting I was grinning like an idiot and hanging on every word. They have great chemistry and it’s not long before Nora is taking Lance to her playroom.
”What do you want to do, Sailor?”
“Anything you want, Mistress. Anything at all.”
“That’s a dangerous word around here. Let’s go find out what you mean by anything.”
Things between them are cut short when they are interrupted and told some concerning news about a fellow kinkster. On to the next!
Part II: Sore Spots
With a potential stalker on the loose, Kingsley hires Lance as Nora’s bodyguard, but stipulates no sex while he’s on duty. Frustrated by the ex-SEAL’s noble chivalry, Nora is driven to seek release with the one man she’s trying to forget….
With a potential predator on the loose, Kingsley has hired Nora a bodyguard and of course it’s someone she’s quite familiar with…Lance. The problem? Kingsley has absolutely forbidden anything other than professional behavior, having no idea that they’ve already met and been together.
This installment is really interesting because we get to see Nora’s everyday Dominatrix gig. It’s not all sex and pain 24/7 and it was pretty awesome to meet one of her more… unique clients. There’s also a much deeper feel to this part of the story.
She liked him and she didn’t like that she liked him. Like led to love and love led to nasty complications.
I had no idea I’d be so open to Nora with another man besides the ones I’ve already grown to love, but surprisingly, I am. I really like Lance and we get to see another side of him here and learn about some of his not so pretty past.
The end really left me wanting more.
If she couldn’t have Lance, she’d have the one and only man who she wanted more than him tonight.
Part III: The Games Destiny Plays
Shocked to see Nora’s bruises, Lance is furious that she put herself in danger and demands to know where she got them. As Nora confesses her true nature, she’s equally shocked to learn that Lance has some secrets of his own, drawing them together despite Kingsley’s orders….
Holy freaking FEEEELS!
With how part II ended, I should have known this installment was going to pack a punch in the emotion department. It’s Nora and Søren. Ahhh! Those two do something crazy special to me whenever they are together. Their connection is so intense in every way and I loved every second, even when it was painful.
We hurt each other. It’s what we do. Trust that I can take it as well as I give it.
Then we get more Nora and Lance. Nora is still fighting her feelings for him all the while they are working hard to keep their promise to Kingsley so Lance doesn’t lose his job.
“…I’d slay dragons for you Mistress.”
“I like dragons.”
“Then I’d tame one and bring it to you as tribute, complete with collar.”
The tension and back and forth is awesome and seeing them try to get around the agreement is pretty funny. The end left me wanting more as Kingsley has news about the attacker bringing things even closer to Nora. Dun, dun dun…
Part IV: Fit to Be Tied
With her feelings for Lance warring with her recent encounter with Søren, Nora returns to Lance’s bed and finds herself toying with the idea of…toying with him on a permanent basis. But after she gets a glimpse into his personal angst, Nora realizes she has the power to rescue this white knight….
Kingsley’s news at the end of part III ends up giving Nora and Lance the okay to resume their sexual escapades. The feelings side of things is still getting to Nora and Lance is making her question where this is going and if she could make him hers.
She expected him to say Please kiss me or Please fuck me. Either wish would have been immediately granted.
Instead, in a voice low and hungry he whispered, “Please make love to me.”
Nora didn’t have a snappy comeback for that. She had no words at all.
We get a little more Søren and Nora time, but it’s definitely not roses. It did, however make me love him even more. It’s been awhile since Nora broke things off with him, but their occasional romps seem to take their toll – not that that stops either of them.
“I’m not ready to give this up yet. I’m just finding out who I am finally.”
“Mine,” Soren said. “You are mine. That’s who you are.”
The ending left me feeling giddy about where things will end up for Lance. I love what Nora is about to do for him and I just hope it works!
Part V: The Last Good Night
Now that the perpetrator has been apprehended, Nora sadly acknowledges she doesn’t need a bodyguard anymore. She adores Lance and wants to keep him but is faced with a dilemma—if she uses her connections to help Lance, she’ll have to give him up forever…
What a perfect ending to this 5 part novella!
This book really had me in knots. As much as I knew the end was coming, it was still so bittersweet. The sacrifices that had to be made were truly the right thing to do. It almost made me teary eyed because I know things were so very real for both Lance and Nora their one last good night.
“Such is the nature of dreams. They only feel endless in the dream. By dawn they turn to dust.”
This novella is so worth the read! It has the usual wit, charm, and kink and definitely packs a punch in the emotion department. There is a great depth there between the characters we already know and love from The Original Sinners series. But there is also something really special about Lance’s story. Not only is he an amazing guy, a true knight, but his struggle with custody and his daughter was absolutely heartbreaking. I am so glad I got the opportunity to read this story and can’t wait to dive into The Saint soon! <3
I supposed the hardest was The Siren simply because it was the first book and I had no idea what I was doing. I wrote draft after draft after draft. The Prince was the easiest to write because I had such a solid structure to it. Emotionally the hardest to write was The Mistress. I’ve never cried so much in my life as I did when writing that book. Grace walking at dawn with Søren? I don’t think I’ll ever recover from writing that scene.
Q: Do you have a favorite scene/moment from the Original Sinners Series? What is it?
I think I’m most proud of the “I’ll fly” flashback scene in The Siren. That one also made me weep while writing it. Big gulping fall off the bed sobs. When I write something that hits me that hard, cuts me to the bone, I know I have something good.
Q: The ending of The Mistress… was that always planned — View Spoiler »(*cough* baby) « Hide Spoiler? Will we get any updates from Zachary & Grace?
Yes, the ending of The Mistress was planned for years. As for your question all I can say is “Stay tuned.”
Q: Nora has had relationships with Zachary, Michael, Wesley and now Lance. What do you think each guy represents to her? Is there a connection?
Wesley is the antithesis of her kinky world. That’s her attraction to him. Zach and Nora was a meeting of the minds—editor and writer creating something special together. Nora has a strong urge to be a caretaker so Michael is someone she can mentor and nurture. A woman as dominant as Nora needs someone to dominate. Maybe she’ll find the right male sub to call her own someday.
Q: Will Griffin and Michael get their own book/novella? (PLEASE SAY YES!!) :)
Once again, all I can say is…stay tuned!
Top 3 things on your bucket list?
I don’t have a bucket list. I have a fuck it list. When I think about climbing Mt. Everest, I’m like “Fuck it.”
