TAKE – verb: to reach for and hold in one’s hands or get into one’s possession, power or control.
Logan Mitchell is a man who’s always been more than happy to take what he wants. It’s a philosophy that’s proven lucrative in both his business and personal life, and never was it more apparent than the night he laid eyes on Tate Morrison. After pulling out all the stops and convincing the sexy bartender to give him a try—he’s hooked.
Now, Logan finds himself in a predicament that demands more from him than a smart-ass answer and his innate ability to walk away when things get too deep.
He has a choice to make, and it’ll force him to do something he’s never done before—take a chance.
Tate Morrison knows all about taking a chance. He took the biggest one of his life the night he showed up at Logan’s apartment to explore his unexpected reaction to the man.
Ever since then, he’s thought about little else.
At first he was convinced his attraction was based solely on his body’s curiosity. But the more time he spends with the silver-tongued lawyer, the more Tate realizes that their physical chemistry is only the beginning.
He’s starting to catch a glimpse of what life with Logan would be like, and it’s one full of excitement and satisfaction—a far cry from what he had in the past with his soon to be ex-wife.
Each man will face their fears as they begin to understand the true meaning of give and take. Their feelings for one another will be tested, as will their very beliefs. But now that they’ve found love where they least expected it, will they be brave enough to reach out and take it?
“Breathe and give him what he wants. He’s right there asking for you. So reach out and fucking take him.”
(And boy, does he effin’ TAKE him….)
I sincerely don’t know how to articulate my feels about this book.
When ARCs went out for this book, I was hitting refresh on my kindle while sitting in the hotel lobby with my pals the night before Book Bash. That’s right, I was so excited about this book, that I almost bailed on hanging out with my book buddies so that I could run up to my hotel room to read it.
Take is book #2 of Ella Frank’s Temptation series, which picks up right where book #1 Try left off. Where book 1 was all about the thrill of the chase, and trying something different, book 2 is all about overcoming the insecurities and complications that come with change.
“I guess I just want you to know that you can talk to me.”
Logan barely resisted the urge to roll his eyes at the grin that hit Tate’s mouth, and when he shifted up the bed and pressed his lips to his chin, Logan closed them instead.
“You know what? I think you care, Logan Mitchell.”
Tate was right. He did care. A whole fucking lot, but there was no way in hell he was going to be the one to lay open his heart after just a few weeks in.”
In Take, Tate and Logan have to deal with the standard “growing pains” that every new couple has to go through when they’re starting out. They’re faced with trying to figure out if their relationship can go beyond just the physical, lust-filled moments, and withstand the emotional investment that goes along with it. As you can expect, it’s not just the usual obstacles they have to contend with. Going public with their relationship seems easy (well, not really), but going public all while coming out to your super religious family (Tate) brings its own clusterf*^k-y flavor to the mix as well. Throughout this book, we watch Tate and Logan cope with bigotry, jealousy, prejudice, denial, insecurity, acceptance, love, sadness, happiness, and of course, desire. Basically, I hope you’ve packed the tissues and chocolates for this one, cause this ain’t your average erotic romance. This is full of non-stop feels. Bottom line: This book is FANTASTIC.
Ella Frank has a gift, and it is the gift of storytelling. Her characters are so well-written, they leap right off the page and into your heart. You are able to connect with all of the aspects within the story, instead of dwelling on moral codes, conformity, or even modesty. Her books make you feel more and think less. That being said, Tate and Logan’s story doesn’t always scream “BOYS KISSING!”, but more so the focus is about 2 human beings falling in love, and their journey of acceptance and self discovery. Sure, the ‘steamy bits’ are a little more taboo, but if you are to learn one thing above all else it is: LOVE is LOVE.
Tate and Logan’s story sticks with you long after you’ve read the final page. Ella continues to impress with yet another fantastic book! I am eager to get my hands on the next book!
“Somewhere between the elevator ride up to Cole’s and this very second, Logan realized exactly what he wanted, and it was all wrapped up in two words– Tate Morrison.”
“Now I’m really fucking selective. As in, there’s only one choice, one option, and one person I even think about”
Logan nodded. “Yeah. Ever since he served me a gin and tonic and told me he was straight.”
Tate pretended to be shocked. “He told you he was straight and you went after him anyway?”
“Mhmm. He was adamant.” He kissed Tate again. “Told me there was no way in hell he’d ever kiss me.”
“But you changed his mind, huh?”
“Of course,” he said, full of arrogance. “I argue for a living. He stood no chance.”
Gone was the careful, tentative man who’d taught him what to do, and in his place was a man out of control– a man taking his pleasure.
A man he loved.
Logan wanted him, and if this was his fall into corruption, then he planned on on hell of an impact.
“That’s your truck?”
“So what?” Logan challenged as he pulled his keys from his pocket.
“Excuse me. I’ll have you know I was driving this baby all through college and she still runs like a dream.”
Tate watched as Logan walked over to run his hand over the scratched-up tailgate, and he was amazed that he even made that look sexy. Like he was stroking a lover.
“And it’s a she, huh?”
Now around at the passenger’s side, Logan opened the door and looked at him over the bed of the truck. “Yeah. Jealous?”
Laughing, Tate walked over to where Logan stood with a hand on the door and kissed him slowly on the mouth.
“I’m jealous of anything you stroke like that.”
“Get in the truck, Tate.”
Logan stepped forward, crowding him back against the inside frame of the vehicle. “You’re not ready for the or else…”
