"With her debut erotic romance CRASH INTO YOU, Roni Loren has penned a sexy, sizzling tale that is sure to have readers begging for more!"
-Jo Davis, author of "I Spy a Dark Obsession"
Brynn LeBreck has dedicated herself to helping women in crisis, but she never imagined how personal her work would get, or where it would take her. Her younger sister is missing, suspected to be hiding from cops and criminals alike at a highly secretive BDSM retreat-a place where the elite escape to play out their most extreme sexual fantasies. To find her, Brynn must go undercover as a sexual submissive. Unfortunately, The Ranch is invitation only. And the one master who can get her in is from the darkest corner of Brynn's past.
Brynn knows what attorney Reid Jamison is like once stripped of his conservative suit and tie. Years ago she left herself vulnerable only to have him crush her heart. Now she needs him again. Back on top. And he's all too willing to engage. But as their primal desires and old wounds are exposed, the sexual games escalate-and so does the danger. Their hearts aren't the only things at risk. Someone else is watching, playing by his own rules. And his game could be murder.
A very solid 3.5 Stars! (I rounded up on the GR rating because it was a very entertaining read.)
Let me break down mah feels.
What I Loved:
1.) The POV! I loved that this story was told in Third Person POV. That is my jam. I love that it almost adds another element of voyeurism; the reader gets a glimpse into what’s going on with each of the characters in the story.
2.) The Characters! I really loved the characters a lot. I’m always excited when I read a contemporary romance where I enjoy the heroine. (I’ll admit, I very seldom identify with the heroines.) I was rooting for Brynn and Reid’s HEA from the very start. I was very invested in each of their plot arcs; once it was over, I craved to know more about some of the secondary characters that were introduced. (*Cough* Grant & Jace*cough*)
3.) The Story! I love love loved that there was an element of suspense to this story. It was a nice little added bonus with all the steamy bits. I also liked that there was a second chance romance, too! (I’m a sucker for that.) I also enjoyed that the story was told in past/present chapters; it’s almost as if we’re getting two stories in one!
What I Didn’t Love:
Inconsistent Pacing. Even though I loved a lot of components/elements of the writing, I had some issues with the pacing in the last 35ish%. There were a few things that seemed rushed, and a few things that seemed to drag a bit. I wish that some of the more poignant/emotional moments had been fleshed out a wee bit more. I had to suspend reality a time or two, and even found myself wondering if some of the character reactions (to particular situations) made sense. That being said, I was invested enough in the story that I was able to overlook most of those moments, and still enjoy the story as a whole.
Even though the plot/pacing wasn’t always cohesive/smooth (and the plot twist to be relatively predictable), I still found that the story and characters to be alluring and intriguing.
Crash Into You was a steamy & suspenseful page turner that I was hard pressed to put down. It is a great jumping off point for what seems to be a promising (new-to-me) series!
On to Jace’s book! (YAY!)
