Don't miss a beat with the fourth and final novel in theUSA Today bestselling Stage Dive series from Kylie Scott.
Positive. With two little lines on a pregnancy test, everything in Lizzy Rollins' ordinary life is about to change forever. And all because of one big mistake in Vegas with Ben Nicholson, the irresistibly sexy bass player for Stage Dive. So what if Ben's the only man she's ever met who can make her feel completely safe, cherished, and out of control with desire at the same time? Lizzy knows the gorgeous rock star isn't looking for anything more permanent than a good time, no matter how much she wishes differently.
Ben knows Lizzy is off limits. Completely and utterly. She's his best friend's little sister now, and no matter how hot the chemistry is between them, no matter how sweet and sexy she is, he's not going to go there. But when Ben is forced to keep the one girl he's always had a weakness for out of trouble in Sin City, he quickly learns that what happens in Vegas, doesn't always stay there. Now he and Lizzie are connected in the deepest way possible...but will it lead to a connection of the heart?
The final book in the Stage Dive series, this book is fun, sexy and romantic with great banter, fantastic chemistry and just the right amount of angst to keep things interesting without becoming overly dramatic.
Lizzy and Ben are already known to the series. Ben is the bass player for Stage Dive, the lone single man left in the band, and Lizzy is the younger sister of Anne, Mal’s other half, and right from the start of this book you know you’re in for a wild time with Lizzy’s big reveal on the opening page.
“So I’d been knocked up by a rock star.”
I’m a sucker for this kind of storyline, so I went in with high expectations, and I wasn’t disappointed. Lizzy and Ben have to deal with all of the normal stuff that a couple in their position would have to deal with, as well as the added pressure of Ben’s lifestyle, the drama of celebrity, and the fact that Mal is so keen to be involved in the whole situation, and keep Ben out of it.
The big surprise for me in this book was Lizzy. OMG, I absolutely adore her! My favourite of all of the heroines in this series so far she is real, she is funny, sarcastic and self deprecating (in an amusing way, not an annoying way), and she bravely embraces all that happens to her.
Her announcement is made in hilarious but awkward fashion, and then the story goes back four months to Lizzy and Ben’s first meeting, and the slow development of thing between them. There is a very strong attraction from the beginning, and I love that Lizzy is the one to make the moves. She is madly attracted to Ben, and her constant musings over his hotness and how much she wants him are hilarious!
Dreamy dark eyes pinned me in place owning me. He licked his lips. Every time he did that my hormones erupted into the song of joy, a full orchestra plus heavenly choir accompanying. The whole shebang. It was ridiculous.
Ben is concerned about her age (she is 20, he is 28), but more important is the fact that Mal has made him promise to stay away from his baby sister-in-law. But after constant texting, sharing and getting to know each other, their sizzling attraction can’t be denied for too long.
“Why are you here?” I reached back behind my head and grabbed his wrists, stilling him. “Ben?”
“Because apparently I’m shit at staying away from you.”
“Then I guess we have a problem.” Our fingers meshed, holding on tight.
“That’s putting it fucking mildly.”
But their one hot night together doesn’t end well, and back in the present things are all kinds of awkward. Told entirely from Lizzy’s POV, we get to see her reacting to the news, freaking out but taking it in her stride, and continuing her mad obsession with Ben. And once her news is out and Ben is once again in her life, she starts to dream of something more… all while her pregnancy hormones are running amok.
He gave me a long look. “Any time. If you need something, I want you to tell me. That’s the only way this is going to work.”
“Okay.” I needed his naked body at my disposal. Now.
“I want total honesty from you, okay?”
“Total honesty.” So help me, I’d ride him all the way home and back again.
Ben is a mysterious one. Big, bearded and tattooed, he’s not a big talker, and it’s hard to know where he stands at times, but I totally fell for him. The man is living his dream, living large and loving every day of it with no desire to change that. I really felt for him, because he truly cares for Lizzy and he whole-heartedly wants to do the right thing by her, but he honestly has no clue how to deal with the situation.
“Give me a chance to catch up.”
I just stared at him, trying to keep my cool. Took two to tango, yada yada.
“I’m serious.” His shoulders heaved up and down. “Just give me a chance to catch up and I promise, Lizzy, I will have your back.”
It’s a hard road for them, and they both do their best to manage in their own ways, but once again their mad attraction can’t keep them apart for long, and holy freaking damn! Like the rest of the books in the series, this book is steamy hot! Ben is a manwhoring alpha with mad skills in the bedroom, and he and Lizzy together are smoking! But they manage to maintain the fun bantering relationship and the love scenes are a mixture of seriously hot sexy time and Lizzy’s brilliant outbursts
Still not breaking eye contact, he slid a finger into me. “You’re very wet.”
“Yeah. You know, it’s kind of hard to focus on relationship talk when you’re fingering me.”
“We can talk all you want later. Promise.”
“’kay.” I made a pitiful noise in my throat…
“I mean, you got hot for me in Vegas. But this…Sweetheart, Christ, this is fucking awesome.”
“I masturbate. A lot.”
But it’s not all fun times. There is a lot of push and pull between Lizzy and Ben as they fight to figure out what they mean to each other, and how they’re going to make things work. But it’s worth the heartache as a beautiful romance develops that had me swooning madly.
“Ben, I don’t want to take your freedom. I just want a place in your world. An important one.”
He craned his neck, tipping my chin up to make me look at him at the same time. “Sweetheart, you’ve been important since day one.”
There’s a lot of involvement with the rest of the crew as everything unfolds, and I loved the times we got to spend with them. The girly time was great, but it was Mal that really stood out for me. The man is freaking hilarious! I much prefer him as a side character, he is so OTT and ridiculous, that smaller doses of him are better and I can appreciate him so much more.
With all the skill and speed of a seasoned maile stripper, Mal turned on his heel. “And you, young lady! You are grounded until further notice.”
“Babe.” Anne winced. “That’s not going to fly.”
“And you are never to talk to Ben again. He is clearly a very bad influence on you.” The drummer continued, oblivious, sneering at his former friend. “Is that understood, Elizabeth?”
“Yeah. Okay,” I said.
“Get out,” I said.
I’m so sad that this is the end to the series. I have loved each and every book, and am not ready to say goodbye to these characters just yet. There is an epilogue to this book which finishes off Lizzy and Ben’s story beautifully, but I’d love a bit more closure for the rest of the gang. Fingers crossed Kylie Scott takes pity on us and gives us a bit more in the future.
I absolutely loved this one. It was funny and romantic, both sweet and dirty, and I had a great time reading it.
