I'm naturally gifted on the field and between the sheets. With flashy cars and enough media attention to put the Royal Family to shame, I’m the definition of Most Eligible Bachelor.
I've never met a man who doesn't want to be me or a woman who doesn't want to tame me. Until I meet Camila.
From the moment I lay eyes on her, I know I have to have her.
She wants to keep me at arm's length.
I want her naked in my bed.
She thinks our worlds are too different.
All I want her to think about is screaming my name.
She says I’m bad news.
I have three weeks to prove her wrong.
“Life is short. We’re only here to chase moments. I’d rather make those moments worthwhile.”
“So you choose to let go?”
“I choose to keep living.”
Sports Romance. I used to avoid it like the plague. My husband is obsessed enough with sports on real life that I didn’t want it overflowing into my fantasy worlds. I only recently opened my heart to sports romance (finally gave in to the Off-Campus series! SO GOOD!) but The Player stood out to me more because it has the one sport I love – football. As in soccer. The good football. Not hand-egg football. Im traditionally a Man-U fan, and I am a die-hard Orlando City (MLS) fan. So I knew this was a sports situation I could handle. And MY GOD I am so glad I took the opportunity to read this book.
(Look, there had to be Ronaldo. He is my guy. Like, if you cover him in tattoos, he is my War. That smile, that accent, that BODY. Yes. So its happening.)
This book had exactly what I wanted it to have. Romance, laughter, the chase, the drama… all of it. This is definitely a different kind of novel from CC. I love her Darkness series, because suspense is my jam, and her Hearts series is great contemp romance. But throwing this smokin’ hot soccer player into the mix of her deliciously written guys gave us a different kind of novel. Oh, and I suppose the soccer aspect makes it a bit different too. But Warren is just so freaking sexy. He is funny and talented, a little full of himself… but not in an unattractive way. He might be my new fave of Claire’s men. Maybe.
He echoed inside me. I felt him between every beat of my heart, marking me, taking me, the emotion in his eyes giving me answers I didn’t dare ask questions to, and I returned them.
Camila is great, she is headstrong and independent, and doesn’t take much shit from anyone, but she has a kind heart. They are completely different people from completely different worlds, and I just love the way War chases her. I enjoy them both having to become a part of the others world. It does become a bit of a whirlwind, verging on instalove. but only because of the initial three week time frame. Their romance was so much fun, and so sweet, with all sorts of sexy moments. It gets surprisingly emotional.
Now, I did guess the big thing/secret pretty early on. But that’s just because my brain immediately starts trying to solve puzzles when I read, and I knew there would be something, and my guess continued to be solidified as I read. So when I got to the reveal, I wasn’t exactly surprised. But knowing didn’t take anything away from the story for me. Is it more fun to be surprised? Yes. But my brain just won’t let things be. It’s a problem really. Anyway, this was a super fun, sweet, sexy book, and it was such an easy read, definitely can be done in one sitting. It became too easy to just get wrapped up in both War and Camila and not want to put the damn book down. I would happily read more sports romance from Claire Contreras. So go check this out ASAP.
Now, here is more Cristiano.
