Book 2 in the Second Chance Duet . . .
Love isn't always about timing.Sometimes you have to throw caution to the wind and roll with it.
I admit I wasn't ready. I know you don't want to look at me, let alone talk to me, but please, let me explain.Let me tell you all the ways my heart broke when you walked away.Let me show you what our years apart have done to me.
Give me a chance to find my way back to you . . .
Honestly, I am the worst. I read the second part of this duet before Apollycon in March, but then my pre-Apollycon vacation with kids and fam, then turning around, repacking same day, and next day flying straight to Apollycon, I failed to post my review of the second book in the Second Chances duet. I feel so bad, considering I ADORED the first book, see here.
Again, terrible fan. I love Claire, and I also suck. But I’m trying, see? I am here to tell you… no, YELL AT YOU… Insisting THAT YOU READ THIS DUET IF YOU HAVE NOT.
This book does that thing where we jump forward, but not too much, fortunately. As I attempted to write the next sentence just now, I realized how hard this review will be to write and not just be completely spoiling the first book in the series. YIKES. I almost spoiled everything, you guys. (Just another reason for y’all to go read that first book!)
How do I described the things I love about this duet without spoiling? Lets see….
As much as you want to hate Rowan at times, its hard not to end up falling for him. SWOON.
The characters. Most of them anyway, but I especially ended up liking how things ended up with Rowans dad.
The slow burn. Also, now that I mention that, if Tessa had been more forward, which I think she should have been, this could have been avoided. It makes me mad at Tessa, even though she did what she thought was right, but at the same time she underestimated Rowan. There was so much to be said, so many feelings and truths untold. She never really gave him a fair chance, once the more important and pressing issue of their relationship was revealed. JUST FREAKING TALK TO HIM! UGH! Tell him! So simple.
Finally, FINALLY pieces start to fall into place, again, its that slow burn, which I seem to be stuck in lately, which makes me want to throw books books against the wall and also hold them tight. But in the end, I am holding this tight. So damn tight. I am having a hard time saying what I want but also keeping this review vague…. I am so torn. I want to give you every reason to read this duet, but I have every reason to not spoil the first book by reviewing the second. So please… PLEASE… give this a chance. The best duet you will read this year, dear romance reader. (Unless she releases ANOTHER duet with both books releasing within the year, that somehow top this, I honestly wouldn’t put it past her.)
