The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves at odds with those don't.
As the kingdoms of Erilea fracture around her, enemies must become allies if Aelin is to keep those she loves from falling to the dark forces poised to claim her world. With war looming on all horizons, the only chance for salvation lies in a desperate quest that may mark the end of everything Aelin holds dear.
Aelin's journey from assassin to queen has entranced millions across the globe, and this fifth installment will leave fans breathless. Will Aelin succeed in keeping her world from splintering, or will it all come crashing down?
I am so excited to be the second stop on the Empire of Storms blog tour! EOS has been out only a couple days now, but as you can imagine, I was overeager to read it, and was lucky enough to finish it in practically one sitting. (If you’d like to check out my 5-Star–with hidden spoilers–review for Empire of Storms, go here!)
When my copy of Empire of Storms arrived, I barely had time to drop it into my purse before I was off on an adventure through 3 major cities, and two states. So in theory, for the first few days, my book sort of became a traveling gnome. I figured I’d photo document the whole trip, and share those photos with you in a feature I’d like to call “Steph-pire of Storms: From Terrasen to the DMV”. (Yes, I know I’m a dork.)
What is the DMV?
Before I get to the fun part (pictures, YAY!), I want to tell you what ” the DMV” means for those of you not from ’round here. DMV stands for “D.C.”, “Maryland”, and “Virginia”. I live in the “M”, but I am originally from the “D” (hehe, that sounded dirty. *giggles*).
Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s get to it!
“Home is behind, the world ahead,
and there are many paths to tread
through shadows to the edge of night,
until the stars are all alight.”
— J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings
Empire of Storms gave me serious Lord of the Rings vibes.
Throughout the book, each of the characters were traveling on a quest. So, I found it fitting that I was able to travel with my copy as I journeyed throughout the DMV!
I took my copy of EOS everywhere.
And I mean everywhere:
Baseball games in Baltimore? You betcha.

Washington Nationals vs Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards (LETS GO NATS!)
Hanging out at the Baltimore Inner Harbor? Check.

Sitting in “The Greatest City In America” – Baltimore, MD :)

EOS? I SHIP it. #Puns in the Baltimore Inner Harbor!

That’s so (Baltimore) RAVENs.

Shake Shack Baltimore, MD

Shake Shack Baltimore – The Money Shot *drools* — At Sarah’s Empire of Storms event, she said that if Empire of Storms were a food, it would be a delicious burger from Shake Shack. I couldn’t agree more.
Coffee & Shoe Shopping in Virginia? Yes please.

Shoe shopping in Virginia! Celaena would totes approve.

Bookin’ and Bloggin’ in VA!
Spending a gorgeous day in my old stomping grounds in D.C.? Absolutely.

This quote is quite fitting for EOS. (Seen at the #FDR Memorial in Washington, D.C.)

“I hate war.” As seen at the #FDR Memorial, Washington, D.C.

*chants* I will not think of Rowan’s penis. I will NOT think of Rowan’s penis. #Phallic – The Washington Monument aka “The General” in Washington, D.C.

ROWAN?!?!? Oh, no, it’s just an Eagle. #Merica (in Washington, D.C.)

Having 1797 flashbacks! EOS hanging out with the first President and Vice President of the United States! (Washington & Jefferson) Also, a SWAN PADDLE BOAT PHOTO BOMB! The Tidal Basin, Washington, D.C.

Fleetfoot!?!? Nah, that’s just a statue of Fala, President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s dog. :) (As seen at the #FDR Memorial)
But, home is where my book is. (Near Annapolis, MD!)

Pizza Party!
Near, far, wherever you are…
The last stop for my traveling book was Bensalem, PA, for Sarah’s EMPIRE OF STORMS launch event (which I was lucky enough to moderate)!
Here are a some photos:

I am kind of weird, but i wont start a series till it’s over or close to cause i hate the wait for the next book. So, i havent read this series yet, but on my TBR pile.
I totally get it! It’s a gift and a curse to read this series as the books come out; I wish I didn’t have to suffer through the waiting!
OMG I love the photos (especially the ship one :P )
I still haven’t finished the book TAT
HAHAHA! Thank you <3 I thought I was being clever with the ship ;-) hehehe
That’s so cool! I’m still waiting for my copy and probably the day when Sarah would visit my country again.
Hopefully your book arrives soon! It’s sooooo pretty. <3 And hopefully Sarah visits your country again, too. She's so awesome! :)
Rowan is my favorite!!
I also haven’t started the series yet – I want to binge-read when the last book comes out. I also know I will save myself a lot of heartache.
Love all the photos!
Dorian is my favourite ♡
My favorite character, besides Aelin of course, is Manon! I love how badass she is!
I haven’t started this series yet, so I can’t give an honest answer to the question of who’s my favorite. I enjoyed the travel photos–this book has had more fun than I have this year!
It looks like you had a lot of fun with your copy of the book Steph!
I would say it’s Celaena. She’s the reason I started this series. I just loved that she’s such a bada**, something I’m not :-( I also loved all your pictures :-) I thought that was so cool, a great an adventure :-)
Dorian <3
The pictures are so cool! I especially liked the Baltimore Inner Harbor (and the Pizza Party one, of course :))
Thanks for holding this giveaway! I can’t decide on my favourite character, it’s either Dorian or Chaol!
I love Rowan!
Thank you so much for the giveaway. It’s the most difficult thing to say who is my favorite character. I mean Aelin is my badass girl, and I am in love with Rowan, then there is my precious Aedion, fierce Manon and just simply awesome Lysandra. But I’d have to say that Aelin would have to be my most favorite!
Asking for a single favorite character is most definitely a trick question. You can’t just choose one. Still if I had to say it’d probably be Aedion or Lysandra or Asterin, for their way of surviving without hiding, adapting to tragedy as best as they could.
Keeping tab on your tour dates! So excited for this!!
First of all, thank you so much for your giveaway. Regarding the favorite character, I think that Throne of Glass is one of those series where I LOVE almost all the characters. It’s way too complicated for me to pick, but I think I might say Lysandra. She has grown up so much through the books (I talk about The Assassin’s blade too) and she has given up so much that I just want to hug that awesome lady and tell her everything’s going to be all right.
Celaena was my favorite but then we were introduced to Manon and I fell in fictional love! I can’t wait to see what Maas in store for them and I hope that they cross paths again!
I love all the female characters but Aelin is my favorite. Sarah is sooo good at writing bad-ass, strong and fierce female characters.
I haven’t started Throne of Glass yet, but it looks so good. So I don’t know who my favorite character is yet.
Haven’t read the series yet. I will get them all at once and binge read! :D
Manon and Aelin are my favourite characters! both of them are just so complex and interesting :)
Celeana (duh) but other than her I Luuuuuuuuurve Dorian Havilliard <3
Oh God I’m so exited about this book! Although I have the feeling that it’s gonna tear my soul apart
How cute and how awesome that you brought the book around with you :D
Oooh! So exciting, loved all the books so far!
Oops, forgot to mention my favourite character . Tough choice, Aelin & Manon.
I NEED TO READ THIS SOOOONNN!!!! I have my finals soon so i cant read ???
And OFC I LOVE AELIN!!! But it’s the main character. So my favourite character would be Dorian!!!!!
Dorian is gorgeous person and must be protected !!
Hi! Thank you so much for the giveway!
My favorite character is Aelin.?
Thank you for the giveaway! I think my favorite character is Manon… And Aelin.
Aelin is my favorite character, of course. But I love all of them❤
Thanks for the giveway.
Like some of the other commentators, I’m thinking about doing a binge read, so I don’t have a favorite character yet, but hopefully I’ll love them all as passionately as so many other readers seem to.
OMG I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS BOOK!!! SARAH J MAAS IS QUEEN.
I still haven’t read this series because I’m waiting for it to be complete! It’s a torture not to read the next book of a very awesome series like this! So yeah. I still haven’t read this series but I’ve been wanting to since the first book!
I adore Dorian! Although, it is hard to pick just one. =P
I’ve been so busy this past month, that my mother has hidden EOS from me to get me to do my schoolwork. I hated it, but it was a pretty smart move, I guess. So, when Hurricane Matthew came barging through our area, and we got school off and evacuated, guess what? I brought Empire of STORMS with me!
