So that book you love is being made into a movie…
In case you have been completely out of the loop, Rick Yancey’s The 5th Wave series is becoming a movie series!
(Check out The series review HERE!)
The first movie (The 5th Wave, obviously) came out in January. Check out the trailer, and then read on for my thoughts!
As a HUGE fan of the books, I was so excited to hear about the movie, and waited around for it like a crazy person for like, a year. But the closer it got, the more I got worried. What if it was bad? What if it ended up like The City of Bones movie? Or worse…. the Divergent series??!! GASP! I couldn’t handle the thought. I was so worried.
Lucky for me, the movie was GREAT. It was a pretty straightforward adaptation, for the most part. The casting was pretty great and felt so on point. Lets talk about my two favorites!!
Chloe Grace Moretz is killing it in everything she does these days. She was awesome as Cassie.
Nick Robinson was PERFECT as Ben/Zombie. Maybe it’s because I love both Ben and Nick (those days on Melissa and Joey stole my heart!), so maybe I am biased, but so be it.
The rest of the cast is pretty great as well, I especially love Liev Schreiber, because he is great at being bad.
Many people have complaints that this book is long or drags out, and I can assure you the movie moves along much faster. So if you are one of those people, the movie may be preferable to the book for you.
My only real issues were tiny things. Like, I wish they had explained everyone’s nicknames the way they do in the book, such as why Nugget or Teacup are called those things. So it’s just really random, minor things. One of my favorite parts, at the end, the big finale?? PLAYED OUT SO PERFECT. It was basically ripped from my head, except for the fact that in my head it was nighttime…. maybe that was just me? Whatever.
So anyway, The 5th Wave was a good time, and I didn’t leave angry!!! (Here’s looking at you City of Bones/Beautiful Creatures/The Host) SO YAY FOR THAT!!!!
Go check this out before it leaves theaters!!
