On Saturday, May 3rd, I (Steph) had the opportunity to attend the D.C. Author Event and interview the 13 authors in a rapid-fire format. (We called it “Speed Dating”, haha). It was an absolute blast getting to hang out with some of my favorite authors, and getting to know each of them a little bit better through during our “dates”.
Starting May 7th, we will be highlighting 1 author each day, and share with you a few moments from their interviews, spotlight some of their books, and give you an opportunity to win 1 of 13 SIGNED books (by the featured authors).
Pretty awesome, right?
Today’s Author Spotlight: Emma Chase!
Q: Which is the hardest to write, the first or last line of your book?
For Emma, the first line is the hardest. Emma told me that the first line is what pulls the reader in, so it’s important to get it just right. If you’ve read Emma’s books, you’ll find that she likes to start her stories in the middle, then she takes you back to the beginning so that you “enjoy the journey”. She gives us just enough to draw us in, and keep us wanting more.
Q: What is at the top of your bucket list?
I asked Emma about the top 3 things on her bucket list, and here’s what she said:
1.) Her dream was to become an author (CHECK!). Either that, or become a lawyer…I’m glad she brought Drew into our lives! :)
2.) Go to Europe.
3.) She wants to travel to the Grand Canyon with her family and dogs. (So fun!)
Q: Do you have any hidden talents?
Did you know that Emma can draw? If you ask her if she’s any good, she will say she doesn’t think she’s “that good”. But, according to her loved ones, she’s great at it!
Book One: TANGLED
Book 1.5: HOLY FRIGGING MATRIMONY
